Parks and Recreation Department Report: “This was busy weekend with a total of 465 launches.

Friday, July 31 – 165 total launches, car parking was full around 11am and had sporadic availability throughout the day. The overflow lot was used for 25 vehicles with trailers. The main trailer lot did fill.Barricades were not deployed. Weather was sunny and the baywas calm.

Saturday, August 1 – 209 total launches, car parking did fill by 940am and had limited availability throughout the day. The overflow lot was used for 35 vehicles with trailers. We did have to close the facility to trucks and trailers around 11am. Barricades were deployed and notifications were sent via the watch desk and 311 for text alerts. Signs were changed on Shore Drive. Weather was good in the early part of the day, but a small craft advisory was issued in late afternoon.

Sunday, August 2 – 91 total launches, car parking did not fill up until late afternoonand had limited availability the rest of the day. The overflow lotwas not used for oversized trailers. Barricade operations were not implemented. Some rain and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon.

Incidents:

Friday – In the later afternoon we had a trailer become detached from the vehicle towing it. Staff assisted the owner to get the trailer back on the vehicle. It closed one ramp for about 30 minutes.

Sunday – Marine patrol was in Crab Creek and issued a summons for a wake violation.

Review of camera footage from weekend did not show anything out of the ordinary
